The Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, has said Irish voters should be uneasy about some of the people who have welcomed Ireland's rejection of the Lisbon Treaty. Mr Cowen was speaking as the Dail began debating the Irish electorate's decision to vote 'no' to the document. He said groups "headed by the likes of Jean Marie Le Pen and Nigel Farrage" were welcoming the vote and "no proud Irish man or woman could but be uneasy that they rejoice in our decision". Labour leader Eamon Gilmore, meanwhile, said the vote showed the public had lost confidence in Irish politics and members of the Dail should acknowledge that.
