Montenegro coach Zoran Filipovic is backing his side to win a clash of footballing styles in Podgorica tomorrow night. The former Yugoslavia international was within seconds of leading his country to victory in their first competitive match since splitting from Serbia when a late Blagoy Georgiev strike rescued a point for Bulgaria on Saturday. But that disappointment is fuelling Montenegro's determination to dent the Republic of Ireland's promising start to their World Cup Group 8 qualifying campaign. The game will pitch two former Benfica employees - Filipovic and Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni - into direct competition, and the Montenegro boss believes his midfielders could hold the key on a night when soaring temperatures could play a part. He said: ``This is a clash of two styles of football, and whoever controls the midfield will definitely be the winner. ``Our midfield players are technically stronger than the Irish - but I fear their strength. ``I don't agree that the Irish players have a 4-4-2 formation because their strikers are very quick and mobile, so they can switch from defence to attack very quickly. ``There is no pattern to how they play.'' Filipovic's faith in his midfielders is shared by one of them, Nikola Drincic. Drincic said: ``Ireland are faster and stronger than Bulgaria, but our midfield has more quality players who can control and make them play our game. ``Our motivation is sky-high. There will be a good atmosphere in the stadium and with our supporters behind us, we can do very well.'' The game will be played at the Podgorica City Stadium, which holds 12,000 spectators, and only around 1,000 tickets were left 24 hours or so before kick-off. Montenegro were only admitted to the world ranks by FIFA as a country in their own right in May last year and as a result, are the lowest seeded team in the group.
