The Energy Minister and the Minister for Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs were in the west today to hear the views of local people from Erris in Co. Mayo on the controversial Corrib gas pipeline. Eamon Ryan and Eamon O'Cuiv met with supporters and opponents of the project in a day long series of meetings. Both sides said they had been given a fair hearing. Shell was forced to suspend its pipe laying works in Broadhaven Bay when equipment on board its ship, The Solitaire, was damaged earlier this month.
