Holland's Robert Doornbos was fastest in the first free practice for this weekend's A1GP round in Portugal. The Team Netherlands driver was quickest around the Algarve circuit, which is being used in the A1GP series for the first time. Doornbos, who also drives in Indy and Superleague, set the best time of 1 minute & 31.962 seconds ahead of impressive rookie Earl Bamber. Ireland's Adam Carroll, the championship leader, was a disappointing 14th fastest and Great Britain's Dan Clarke did not register a time on his return for the team.
