Munster's Paul O'Connell has been confirmed as captain of the British and Irish Lions for their tour of South Africa this summer. The 29-year-old has been chosen for the role ahead of Irish captain Brian O'Driscoll. A record 14 Irish players are in the 37-man Lions squad - O'Connell, O'Driscoll, Rob Kearney, Luke Fitzgerald, Tommy Bowe, Keith Earls, Ronan O'Gara, Tomas O'Leary, Jamie Heaslip, David Wallace, Stephen Ferris, Alan Quinlan, Donncha O'Callaghan and Jerry Flannery.
