The Equality Tribunal has ordered the Ely Property Group to pay €30,000 in compensation to a former member of staff whom it discriminated against due to her gender. The tribunal found that the firm harassed Ms Zena Boyle and discriminated against her in respect of her conditions of employment. It also found that the firm dismissed Ms Boyle in a discriminatory fashion. The company has been ordered to introduce a code of practice on harassment and to train all managers in the operation of the code. The ruling is one of 20 decisions published today by the tribunal today for the month of March.
