Any hopes Alan Quinlan had of touring with the Lions in South Africa this summer have been dashed. The Munster back-row is out until September after being found guilty of foul play in an eye-gouging incident in the Heineken Cup semi-final against Leinster. The disciplinary committee says the offence was at the low level of seriousness but handed him the minimum ban of 12 weeks - not including the off-season. But Quinlan does have the right to appeal.
