A new charity has been launched today in honour of Shane Geoghegan, the Garrowen rugby player shot dead in Limerick last November. The 28-year-old was gunned down in Dooradoyle by gangland criminals who mistook him for a drug dealer living in the area. The Shane Geoghegan Trust was launched today by his mother and Sunderland Football Club boss Niall Quinn. It aims to provide children with an alternative to criminal or anti-social behaviour by making a range of sporting and creative activities accessible to them.
