Ryanair is increasing its fees for checked-in luggage. Passengers will now have to pay a €15 charge when they check in a bag on line, or €30 at the airport. The fee applies to a first bag and passengers will have an option of checking in a second bag but for more than twice the price of the first bag. A charge of €35 applies to a second bag checked in on line while a second bag checked in at the airport will cost €70. The new charges will come into effect for all new bookings from October 1st. The airline says the fee hikes are part of its programme to encourage customers to bring carry on bags only. The company has said that over 70% of its passengers will be unaffected by the changes as they already travel with just one carry on bag which is free of charge.
