Ken Egan and Willie McLaughlin both bowed out of the AIBA World Championships at the quarter final stage in Milan this afternoon. Egan, a silver medal winner at the 2008 Olympics, was surprisingly beaten 17-9 by French light heavyweight Abdelkader Bouhenia. And Donegal welterweight McLaughlin lost out 16-7 to Russian southpaw Andrey Zamkovoy. Earlier today, Cavan bantamweight John Joe Nevin came from behind to guarantee Ireland an historic sixth medal at this level after he out thought and out fought China's Yu Gu.
