Catherine Nevin is due to stand trial today on a charge of possessing a mobile phone in prison. The 55-year-old, who is serving life for the murder of her husband Tom at their Co Wicklow pub in 1996, has not yet entered a plea in relation to the charge. Her trial is due to go ahead before Dublin's non-jury District Court later this morning. If convicted, Ms Nevin faces a fine of up to €10,000 or she could have her life sentence extended by up to five years. The trial is set to go ahead even though she tried to adjourn it pending her miscarriage of justice bid in the Court of Criminal Appeal.
