Supermarket giant Dunnes Stores looks set to close its sandwich bar on Drury Street, Dublin 2, almost five years after it opened, writes Neil Callanan.

When it first opened, there had been speculation that the company would launch a chain of sandwich shops to take on the likes of O'Brien's, but this never happened.

The company is now seeking permission to convert the ground-floor sandwich bar to an alternative use. "The change will include internal alterations, demolitions and installation of ESB station, switch room and new goods in door," the planning notice states.
