Publican-turned-hotelier Hugh O'Regan is believed to have borrowed about €150m from Irish Nationwide via various companies. O'Regan did not return a call seeking comment.

Last week, three of his companies were given court protection after Anglo Irish Bank, which is owed €80m, moved to appoint a receiver to Thomas Read Holdings, Dashaven and Clubko.
