Paddy Kelly: owes millions

Bank of Ireland is taking developer Paddy Kelly to the large business division of the High Court in relation to his headquarters at 128 Baggot Street in Dublin. A motion of entry for the case is due to be heard on Monday. The case came after the bank reportedly seized the headquarters building and appointed a receiver, Michael McAteer of Grant Thornton over it. The bank is believed to be owed millions in relation to the building. The move came after Kelly told the courts he was considering a bankruptcy scheme of arrangement.

Matheson Ormsby Prentice is acting for Bank of Ireland and Kelly's solicitor is unknown, according to court filings.

Separately, Coolbrook Developments, in which Kelly's Redquartz is involved, is facing legal proceedings from Jim Brennan, a leaseholder to a building on Tara Street. Brennan is understood to have been promised a payment for vacating a premises on Tara Street which Coolbrook was planning to redevelop.

A case against Kelly by businessman Hugh McGivern connected to a dispute over the Mango Irish franchise is also due before the Commercial Court next week.
