A construction magazine focused on green issues has bucked downward trends to increase its circulation by more than 11% last year.

Construct Ireland's readership rose to an average of 7,458 copies over the past 12 months, from 6,693 last year, an increase of 11.4%, according to figures released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

The only other trade magazine to show an increase was Accountancy Ireland, where circulation rose by 0.29%.

Construct Ireland was the only construction magazine included in the ABC figures this year, although four magazines were included in last year's figures.

Publisher and editor Jeff Colley attributed the magazine's success to a growing interest in green construction, as well as to a loyal advertising and reader base.

"The green sector is really holding its own at a time when the construction industry is in the horrors. Interest in sustainable building continues to grow," he said.
