The state may have to retender for more than €130m of projects after Pierse Construction went into liquidation. According to the independent accountant's report submitted as part of the company's initial application for examinership, Pierse Contracting is working on a €38.2m office complex for Wexford County Council, a €30.4m water supply plant for South Dublin County Council which is due to be completed this month, and a €12.6m water supply scheme for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council which "is now nearing completion"
Pierse has a 10% stake in a €52m contract to develop four schools due to be completed in December 2011 The consortium has completed €8m of the works. Pierse Contracting is also a shareholder in a €55.7m contract for a motorway service station project, but this is essentially completed as it is at snagging stage.
