England's cricketers arrived home last night still unsure whether they will be returning to India for next month's Test series.

They flew home from Bangalore having made the decision to temporarily suspend the tour in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai that killed 195 people and injured hundreds more.

One of the main targets was the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, where England stayed at the start of their tour and were due to return for the second Test.

Captain Kevin Pietersen confessed he will feel frustrated at being unable to mount a successful campaign in India having lost all five one-day internationals during their three-week stay.

He said: "All I want to do is play cricket and win. One of the biggest things for me is to come to this country and try to win something.

"I'm a winner and I'm a positive person and that's what I want to do. We haven't won anything yet but there's something inside me that says you can't really leave here with unfinished business."
