A crisis meeting has been called by Limerick FC at the Strand Hotel at 7pm tonight as fears mount about the future of senior soccer in the city. Potential investors and supporters are invited to the meeting to discuss the crisis. Two years ago the club almost went out of business but millionaire Jack McCarthy came to the rescue.

Limerick went out of the FAI Cup when beaten 1-0 by St Patrick's Athletic and last Friday only 539 turned out to see the side lose by a stoppage-time goal against Shelbourne.

Limerick still hope that sufficient money can be raised to keep the club afloat while a return to the original home of the game, the Market's Field, is still a hope. With the new greyhound stadium expected to be completed by the autumn of next year the Market's Field will be available for other sporting amenities.
