Flip-flopping your way down to the beach in cheap high-street finds just doesn't cut it in most fashion circles anymore. Over the last few years organic materials, ethically and environmentally well produced, are far more sexy than mass-made, and Ali Hewson of socially conscious fashion label Edun has been blazing the trail for eco fashion for some years now. We think Mrs Bono's new line, which drops into Brown Thomas this week, is well worth getting excited about. Not only is it the first time the label has done a pre-fall collection, the new range also features special 'Kenyan Kids Tees' which were designed by children for the Bidii school in Kenya with all proceeds going back to them. Nobody wants the hassle of too much jewellery in summer, but one delicate long chain you can wear over a simple tee or jersey dress is the ticket, and this one from Misaki is pretty near perfect. It's made of freshwater pearls and it's €219 at www.misaki.com. For stockist information phone: 01 6774626
While we are all slightly cringing now about our over-zealous hyping of the SATC2 movie, we still loved some of the get-ups, including the gorgeous one-shoulder rose-toned Halston Heritage dress Carrie wears when she arrives in Abu Dhabi. We've spotted the very same dress in orange. It's in Brown Thomas and it's €248.97.
* The yummie tummies brand of control underwear has already garnered a starry following (fans include J Lo and Michelle Obama) and its new summer range now has tops, dresses and leggings. All designed to slim that pesky midsection to give you a slim silhouette – who can do without? Pictureed above: Ruffle top, €104, available at Brown Thomas, Arnotts and boutiques nationwide.
* Congratulations to ncad student sile o'shea who has won the 2010 River Island Fashion Design Bursary with a collection inspired by the cult 1975 Grey Gardens documentary. Sile wins a £3,000 bursary and a paid three-month internship in River Island's London design studio. Go her!
* It can be hard to get excited about designer-high street collaborations these days but the collection by Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop this season is a definite exception. London design duo Benjamin Kirchhoff and Edward Meadham are renowned for dreamy conceptual design and the pieces they've done for Topshop are suitably edgy and wearable. Think dramatic capes, structured tees and lots and lots of glitter. Lush. The full collection is online at www.topshop.com
