Aston Villa have squandered a chance to get within one point of Chelsea and Liverpool after drawing with Stoke at Villa Park yesterday. Villa appeared to be heading for victory after goals from Stilian Petrov and John Carew, but late strikes from Ryan Shawcross and Glenn Whelan secured a share of the points for the visitors. The result leaves Villa three points adrift of both Chelsea and Liverpool, who are tied on 55 points in second and third place respectively. Elsewhere yesterday, Bolton Wanderers moved up to 10th in the table after a 1-0 win over Newcastle, while Blackburn Rovers jumped out of the relegation zone after a 2-1 victory over Hull City. West Ham also stay above Manchester City after a 1-0 win at Upton Park.
