The special Green Party convention in Dublin has backed the revised programme for government. The deal which had been worked out in eight days of talks between Fianna Fail and the Green Party was debated by 800 delegates at today's convention in the RDS. The convention voted 84% in favour of the programme with 16% against. Delegates also rejected a motion calling on the Greens' parliamentary party to reject the NAMA legislation. The outcome of the votes means that the coalition remains intact and removes the threat of an immediate general election.
