Jurys Inns, owned by clients of Quinlan Private and an Oman investment fund, has been given the go-ahead for an 84-bedroom extension to its hotel at Custom House Quay in Dublin. The DDDA recently granted a Section 25 certificate for the scheme subject to 17 standard conditions.
Jurys Inns, which has 30 hotels, will have to pay more than €200,000 towards the cost of the Luas extension to the O2 and over €250,000 towards drainage and public services. Another payment of nearly €57,000 is due for infrastructure and facilities.
The hotel has 239 bedrooms and opened in 1996. The extension will involve the expansion of some existing floors and the addition of a seventh floor. The hotel is being refurbished with the work due to be completed next year. The bar is to be expanded, as is the breakfast area, and additional conference and office facilities will be provided.
Jurys hopes to take advantage of strong demand for concerts in the O2 and the opening of the National Conference Centre in September of next year.
