Peugeot's future looks bright with the arrival of the new 3008 and lots of new models and technology due here next year.
The 3008 Crossover vehicle which has the Nissan Qashqai in its sights will be in dealerships in the next two weeks and comes to the market with a very keen price of €24,900 for the high-specification entry-level model. Next year there will be a new 407 model, the introduction of stop-start technology, a new seven-seater 5008 model, a hybrid diesel power plant, an electric car and the new RCZ sports car.
The 3008 is aimed at the medium car segment and is focusing in on customers who are looking for something different. It combines the best elements of a conventional saloon, MPV, SUV and hatchback, Peugeot designers claim.
There are three models in the range. The SE has as standard manual air-con, leather steering wheel and gear lever, 17" steel wheels, cloth interior trim, electrochrome rear-view mirror, remote central locking with deadlocks, multi-position boot floor, split tailgate and front electric windows. Across the three models, safety equipment includes ESP, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, corner brake control, traction control, six airbags, hill assist and electric childlocks are also standard.
The SX model priced at €26,545 has, in addition, cruise control /speed limiter, 17'' alloy wheels, front and rear electric windows, electric folding mirrors, Ipod and MP3 plug-in, USB box / bluetooth, height adjustable driver/passenger seats and steering wheel, auto headlamps and wipers, follow-me home headlamps and trip computer. The SV model is priced at €29,495 and has added dual zone automatic climate control, driver seat lumbar support, rear parking aid, head up display and 18'' alloy wheels.
The Peugeot 3008 is spacious and has a practical layout. It has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Power comes from a 1.6 HDi diesel 110bhp engine with a choice of a six-speed manual or electronically controlled Eco gearbox, which Peugeot say is more economical than the manual version. The 1.6 HDi 110bhp engine in both manual and Eco form qualifies for Band B a €156 annual road tax as CO2 emissions come in at a very low 137g/km and 130g/km respectively. The 1.6 150bhp petrol (International Engine of the Year) option will be available as a special order.
