if you're looking for reasons to be cheerful, Origin's Gloomaway grapefruit body mist is a good starting point. It claims to "usher in feelings of optimism and contentment that last throughout the day" and while we're not sufficiently gullible to swallow that, we can say that its mix of grapefruit, orange, tangerine and field mint is very pleasant and refreshing and a good alternative to heavy perfumes on warm days. On counters in Arnotts and Clerys from 5 June, €28.
exotic animal prints and glamorous safari-inspired looks are key catwalk trends this season and MAC has followed suit with its Style Warrior range. There are all-over bronzing shades for lips, cheeks, eyes and nails and everything is packaged in eye-catching zebra and leopard prints. The palette is all golds, purples, and browns. We particularly like the 'Fierce & Fabulous' bright magenta lip-gloss with pearl (€17) and the Soft Force eyeshade (€15), which is a pale white gold. Available at Brown Thomas.
bronzer can be your enemy or your friend. Overdo it and you're veering into Jordan territory but when it's done properly, it gives you that perfect summer healthy glow. Cream bronzers can look more natural than powder ones and to take the hassle out of trying to decide what shade works for you, try some of Smashbox's O-Bronze. Similar to its other hero products, O-Gloss for lips and O-Glow for cheeks, the idea here is that the product reacts with your skin to give you your own personal shade. You can put it on bare skin or over make-up and blend. For a more intense look, mix the O-Bronze with a dab of moisturiser before applying to cheeks; €28.
