2009 has been a year where TV presenters are being crossed off our schedules faster than bank executives from shareholders' Christmas card lists. And while it's not easy for a bunch of presenters competing for the same jobs in a very small pool, some are being more proactive than others.
The Diary, which always has a keen eye on random satellite channels, noticed recently that one-time lotto and former presenter of The Café, Laura Woods, is back on the small screen. She took the helm alongside RTE's Darren Kennedy to present The Wedding Journal Show from Belfast this month on Wedding TV. Woods herself is engaged to architect Mark Arigho – perhaps she was looking to pick up some tips on her future big day while gigging in Belfast. "It was a dream job from a totally selfish point of view because I'm getting married in three months. I was filling in for someone, so it was sort of a laugh."
Woods, who previously fronted the National Lottery's Trump Card and Big Money Game game shows has kept her foot in the door of RTE with frequent contributor slots on 2fm shows, "my contract with RTE is with radio at the moment," she told the Diary.
