'Good girl gone bad' is one way of describing this season's key looks and we like it a lot. It's all about the matte, clean skin, full brows, smoky eyes and red lips and if you're looking for a celebrity who's got it exactly right, think the lovely Diane Kruger. Nails too are going down the slightly Gothy, full-on vamp route being strong and dark, with lots of sludgy greens, dirty purples and even browns. 'Beyond Jealous' a blackened blue green from M-A-C (€12.50), and one of their six new autumn shades, looks sharp without being overwhelming. The main thing is to keep nails short and nicely rounded. This look doesn't work with talons.
Blusher? We are obsessed. We're not sure why it's taken so long for us to have noticed how brilliant it is (something to do with blusher is a big autumn/winter make-up story, maybe?). It's back and in a big way so it's time to put the bronzer away but can we suggest a little something from the brilliantly-named cosmetics company, B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful? Their powder blushes in a refillable bejewelled pot will prettify any dressing table and 'Bliss' (pictured) is a pale pink suitable for Celtic complexions, for an instant healthy glow. €14.06 from asos.com.
the smell of lavender is something you either love or hate. We are firmly in the 'love' camp and if, like us, you find it relaxing and soothing and pleasingly retro, you'll like this Marks & Spencer moisture-rich bath essence. It foams (very necessary: it's not a proper bath unless it has lots of bubbles is our thinking) and it leaves a subtle smell, but not an over-powering scent of lavender afterwards. And at €7, it's definitely an affordable little luxury.
