The news that Lily Allen is to take a break from her music career to open a vintage shop with her sister Sarah Owen will come as great news for fashion fans everywhere. Called Lucy in Disguise (get it?), the store will be launched at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival in the UK this summer. More and more vintage stores have opened on these shores in recent years and our favourites include Covet in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre where you can rent beautiful designer pieces for special occasions and Hayworth Vintage (www.hayworthvintage.com), which has a fabulous selection of day and evening dresses. We also hear whispers of a new vintage concession to open in Arnotts in the coming months, so watch this space.
We haven't seen a dress we like more than this in a long time. Although there will be copies aplenty hitting the high street, this Stella McCartney design is too beautiful not to covet. Perfect for summer parties or for a bride in a hot climate, this is set to be the dress of spring 2010. Nude dress, €1,095 by Stella McCartney at Brown Thomas.
How cute is this little heart bag? Perfect to go with spring's nautical trend, this whimsical number costs a teeny €5 from Penneys!
* A lot of fashion brands have brought out specially designed pieces with the profits going to help the people effected by the disaster in Haiti. Mango has launched this lovely cotton print bag designed by actress Scarlett Johansson. It features an ancient map of Haiti and the message 'Supporting the people of Haiti'. "By purchasing this bag, which I specially designed, you are helping to provide life-saving assistance like clean water to the people of Haiti," says Johansson. It's on the shelves now for €19.90 with part of the profits donated to Oxfam.
* If you want to do your bit for fairtrade fortnight which finishes on Tuesday, head to Marks & Spencer where you can pick up bright and breezy cotton tee-shirts made with fairtrade cotton for just €7. A bargain that's helping the planet.
* Emma watson's fashion range for people tree has arrived at Asos.com and not only is it ethical, it's also gorgeous. Think contrast trim cardigans, cotton sateen shorts and slogan tees. It's all very fresh and young and pretty, much like the actress herself.
