Our tester was very excited about this as she's a big Elemis fan but her verdict was that this didn't deliver as a night cream. The texture was surprisingly light and after two weeks of use skin was still tight and dehydrated. Nightcreams need to pack more of a punch than this. The suggestions is that you use this after applying an Elemis quartz lifting serum, and maybe this would have had more impact. Disappointing, especially considering the hefty price tag. Available from Harvey Nichols.

New to the market this month, we liked everything about this from the stylish curved jar to the velvety texture it gave skin. It has quite a strong smell – rose and orange blossom – and putting it on felt like a treat. It definitely worked on reducing the appearance of fine lines and where some night creams can feel very heavy, this felt light but rich. It's set to become a regular part of our nighttime skin regime.

Apparently Geri Halliwell is a keen fan of the Q10 cream and as she doesn't look anywhere like her 37 years, we were already well-disposed towards this. Our tester's skin was quite stressed out and she found this to be non-irritating and it really soothed her skin. It absorbed quickly and the next morning, skin was feeling soft and non-greasy. It has a mild smell and her only complaint was that it's a rather gloopy lotion but this is only a minor point. Really good value for money.

Boasting the texture and colour of strawberry sorbet, this mildly scented cream absorbed quickly into our sensitive tester's skin, leaving a pleasantly plumped-up feeling. Wheat germ oil and Community Trade cocoa butter combine to soften the skin but the pillowcase remained nicely slick-free overnight due to the lack of an oily residue, and the plumpness stayed true till morning. Nice price too as a little goes a long way.
