It's almost festival season again and this year the high street has gone into overdrive with what's on offer. From Daisy Lowe-inspired patchwork shorts and wayfarers at River Island and BT2 to fringing and psychedelic prints at a|wear and asos, it's a virtual fest-wear fest out there. Also, H&M has just launched its first Fashion Against Aids festival collection – a mix of denim hotpants and embellished tunic tops as well as worn leather jackets, wide belts and chunky tribal jewellery. For the guys there are embellished waistcoats, slim blazers and – the gap year favourite – paisley vests. The store is also providing a line in tents, sleeping bags and fold-up chairs. Wahoo! So that's Oxegen sorted then. May just have to get glamping in the garden till then.
Want to cut a dash at that all-important ball/wedding/black-tie event this summer? We love the Doctor Who feel of these dicky bows by Drakes, the heritage London-based brand which specialises in luxury accessories, handmade on the premises. (Very Gentleman's Quarterly, 1982). This woven silk beauty is €75 and available online at www.drakes-london.com
Something's afoot
* Summer work wear is always a bit of a tough one. You might want to show off your newly tanned shoulders but a halterneck maxi dress is never a good look for the office. So what's not to love about Warehouse's new Premium Workwear collection with its emphasis on quality fabrics and tailoring? The collection revolves around wardrobe staples – jacket, skirt, trousers etc. Our favourite is this Mouret-inspired LBD €98. See in stores or online at www.warehouse.co.uk for more.
* First there was topshop mini, then stella mccartney's designer collection for Gap and now we're getting excited about River Island's first foray into the world of kidswear, which launched this season. Think biker boots, patchwork dresses and denim waistcoats and get down to the Liffey Valley centre which is sadly the only River Island in Ireland to stock the range. Expect a stampede! For more tel: 01 6203160 .
* Calling all brides-to-be and their entourages! Today is day two of Dundrum Town Centre's first wedding extravaganza, which promises to be a fun-filled day of fashion shows, money-off deals, expert advice and – above all – lots and lots of cake and bubbles. Yum.
