Wine fairs, I love them. Why? They're a great opportunity to learn a little more about wine and to give you good ideas on what to buy for Christmas. Here are four taking place at various locations across the country in coming weeks.
Ranelagh Uncorked, Dublin
When: 15-19 November
Where: Ranelagh, Dublin
What: The suburban Dublin village of Ranelagh is getting behind a week-long wine festival. From Monday 15 to Friday 19 November there'll be a series of wine events alongside promotional menus in participating restaurants, pubs and wine bars. Domaine des Anges wine dinner, Clonmel, Co Tipperary
When: 24 November
Where: Befani restaurant, Clonmel
What: Clonmel and Red Nose Wine are hosting wine maker Ciaran Rooney from Domaine des Anges on Wednesday 24 November in the Befani restaurant in Clonmel. Rooney, a Dubliner, joined one of the more recent Irish wine émigrés, Gay McGuinness, a Kilkenny man, and owner of Provençal winery, Domaine des Anges. Gorgeous food matched with great wine.

Blake Creedon's favourite Australians, Cork
When: 1 December
Where: Cork School of Music, Union Quay
What: Blake Creedon has been given free rein to assemble a list of his favourite Australian wines and then present them in a public tasting. Thomas Woodberry's Christmas wine fair, Galway
When: 28 November
Where: The G Hotel, Galway
What: Thomas Woodberry's is hosting its winter wine fair in the stylish G Hotel. As usual, lots of fantastic wines on offer. Tickets are from €10, and all proceeds go to charity.
One to watch? O'Leary Walker Blue Cutting Road Cabernet Merlot from the Clare Valley (named after our very own County Clare)
