The Irish Government is not doing enough to support those who want to integrate into society here, according to a new report published today by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. Many of those questioned for the report said they feel they are being discriminated against in the Irish jobs market because of their skin colour. The study also says many refugees here feel that available language courses are not adapted adequately to meet different levels of English. Emily Winblad-Mathez of the UNHCR Office in Dublin said the Government is not doing enough to meet the needs of refugees: "Ireland has very little in the way of communicating those expectations, and they've also very little in terms of supporting those expectations," she said. "Where other countries maybe have done more terms of setting up individual targeted time-limited support once people get refugee status, we don't see that so much in Ireland at the moment."
