Phaidon, the international publisher of Wallpaper* city guides, is planning to open a shop at the Kildare Village outlet centre. Phaidon caters to readers of architecture, art, design, food, non-fiction, photography and travel publishing. It also has a children's section.

The company was founded in 1923 in Vienna but has been based in London since 1990 when it was acquired by Richard Schlagman, who wanted the publisher to focus on the visual arts, an area in which it excels.

Current best-sellers include My name is Charles Saatchi and I am an Artaholic, and Younger Than Jesus, a book that profiles more than 500 artists under the age of 33.

Kildare Village has proven attractive to several top-end labels looking to offload excess stock.

Brands that have opened there include For All Mankind, Calvin Klein, Jaeger, Jack Wills, and Villeroy & Boch.
