Hunter wellies are not just for trendy urbanites braving the great outdoors at festivals. They're great for kids too and obviously perfect for this time of year. Even better, these ever-so-cute red ones are reduced from €25 to €14 at Asos Kids. Buy them immediately at asos.com.
Say the words 'dog lamp' and it conjures up a fairly horrendous image. But this one by Ben di Lisi at Debenhams is quirky, yet strangely elegant, and perfect for nights when you want to draw the curtains, sit on the couch and re-read your Stieg Larssons; €56.
New Look is opening its shiny new store in Jervis Street shopping centre, Dublin, on 21 October and, quite frankly, we haven't been so excited about a high-street fashion moment since Karl Lagerfeld did a range for H&M, and that was years ago. Oh, happy happy retail days. Jacket, €55; dress, €59; shoes, €25.
If you haven't caught the Dublin Gospel Choir yet, it's time to sort that out. From their beginnings as a local school choir in the inner city in the mid-1990s, they're now practically household names and they're playing the Button Factory, Temple Bar, Dublin, on 19 November (tickets €20, www.ticketmaster.ie). Feel good? Hell – or heaven – yes.
Whatever you spend on cosmetics, it makes sense to invest in a good make-up bag. Granted, it's not going to make you feel as pretty as a nice new lipstick, but this tartan number from Mac – so fashion forward – will prevent an unholy mess from gathering at the bottom of your handbag. From €42, including a brush, lip or eye make-up set.
The tremendously funny and always readable David Sedaris has a new book out, which is great news. Although not in the vein of his essay collections like Me Talk Pretty One Day, his latest offering, Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk, is a series of allegorical animal-themed short stories. Our favourite, you ask? 'Hello Kitty', where a sceptical cat attends an AA meeting; €17.15, (Little Brown).
'Snood' is a ridiculous word but don't let that prejudice you. It's an eminently useful accessory – throw it over a tired-looking sweater and you've immediately upped your game. Plus, there are none of those tiresome scarf-arranging shenanigans to put up with. M&S do some great ones but we're smitten with this Aubin & Will red marino wool snood; €116 from net-a-porter.
