What did you have for breakfast today?


Blueberries with vanilla yogurt and freshly brewed coffee.


If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be?


I would be in the Antarctic with my family. One of the most magical places I've ever been.


What is your comfort food?


Sausage sandwiches with butter and tomato ketchup on squishy white bread with a mountain of tea.


What website do you look at most?


The RTÉ website. And more recently Amazon and net a porter for easy Christmas shopping.


How often do you exercise?


One hour, twice a week, with Siobhan in Body Byrne Fitness.


What do you watch on TV?


I'm hooked on Mad Men. Also Prime Time Investigates, Reeling in the Years and Graham Norton are all series linked on my Sky Box.


What Irish person do you most admire?


World boxing champion Katie Taylor. Also, I watched Ireland's Greatest earlier in the year and learned a lot about John Hume, who thoroughly deserved to win.


What Irish person do you least admire?


At the moment there are quite a few


How punctual are you?


Em... it wouldn't be my strongest attribute.


What do you most like about yourself?


I like the fact that overall I am a happy, healthy person.


What word or phrase do you overuse?


Emmmm.


What radio station do you listen to?


RTÉ 1.


What is your favourite shop?


Camille in Malahide, Co Dublin, and I love wandering through the Georges Street arcade.


What was the last text you sent?


I had 13 people for lunch yesterday, so I texted back to their thank yous.


Are you good with credit cards?


I'm not bad. I was abroad with No Frontiers for 10 years and never left without a credit card. I'd always get phone calls from the bank checking about fraud: "Were you in the Cusco hostel in Peru on the 16th?"; "Petrol in Carlow on the 27th?"


What was your best holiday?


Probably island hopping in Greece after my Leaving Cert. It was the first time I had been away on my own and I spent three months on Ios. It introduced me to the joy of travel.


How long does it take you to get ready?


Twenty minutes on a good hair day.


What is your biggest regret?


I genuinely don't have any.


What can you not live without?


My car and my phone.


Who was your first crush?


Morten Harket from a-Ha.


When did you last use public transport?


When myself and my mum took the Luas to and from the Elton John concert.


What do you worry about?


Like everyone, I worry about where the country is going to be in 12 months.

Mary Byrne on The X Factor.


What would you do if you won the Lotto?


I'm assuming we're talking €5m here, that's a nice round number. Pay off my mortgage and my family's mortgage.


What time do you go to bed at?


Usually midnight.
