Belfast Romance for valentine's


If you had planned to book a romantic break for Valentine's and haven't got around to it yet, time is ticking. The Fitzwilliam, a boutique hotel in Belfast, could be your solution. There's a dinner option first of all, where you can enjoy a four-course evening meal and a special Valentine's cocktail in the hotel's award-winning restaurant Menu by Kevin Thornton. The cost on Saturday 12 February is €41 per person, and on Friday (11th), Sunday (13th) and Monday (14th) it's €34 per person. If you want to have dinner and also stay over, the cost is €119 per person sharing on the Saturday and €106 per person sharing on the Friday, Sunday and Monday.


Speak easy at the Westin


The Exchange Bar in the Westin Hotel on Dublin's Westmoreland Street has had a revamp which includes a new cocktail bar featuring a list of drinks inspired by the 1930s. They're hoping to establish it as one of the city's new hot spots and their Speakeasy nights will run on Friday and Saturday until 1am with DJs and various promotions such as half price Tattinger champagne by the bottle.

The Canarys direct


With the approach of the peak period for summer holiday bookings, Direct Holidays is getting in early with some new-year specials on that favourite Irish holidaymaker destination, the Canary Islands. Having shut its doors for a small break, the Renvyle House Hotel in Connemara will open for business again on 11 February and there are some nice offers for spring breaks available here. A two-night stay with one dinner is €139 per person sharing. If you're feeling energetic, the 'Dynamics Events' programme (20-25 February) includes quad biking, archery, clay pigeon shooting and golf clinics.
