A 23-year-old man is being questioned in relation to the murder of Donal
Manley in Cork city last Sunday.
The man was arrested after walking into the Bridewell garda station in Cork just before 11pm on Friday.
Retired barman Manley (62) was found in a downstairs room at his home last Sunday evening and gardaí believe he may have been killed for his plasma television.
He died of head injuries. Gardaí had issued an appeal to taxi and hackney drivers for information about a young man spotted carrying a small plasma television near the murder scene.
The man attempted to hail a taxi not far from Manley's house in Cork city centre and was also spotted trying to shield the television with a large, black golf umbrella.
The man was seen around 5pm near Capwell and Douglas, not long after the last known sighting of Manley.
The victim's funeral took place in Cork yesterday.
