The painful words of two sets of parents who lost children in violent circumstances last week made a tragic but inspirational mark on everyone who heard them.

Nuala Creane's eulogy for her son Seb and the sense she tried to make out of his violent death in their Bray home was a transformative moment with the ability to change us all. She articulated a mother's love, a family's embrace, the warmth of friendship and the legacy of hope that the memory of a young person who dies too soon can provide, and she deserves to be thanked by us all for her insight and courage.

Just as heartbreaking were the memories and thoughts of Jim and Deirdre Murray, parents of Raonaid who died so violently near her Glenageary home, 10 years ago last week.

For the Murray family, who loved Raonaid so much, what has made it worse is that they are still searching for an answer to what happened because the gardaí have been unable to charge anyone with her murder.

The family have now set up a website to preserve the memory of their "beautiful, beautiful" teenage daughter.

It is 10 years since Raonaid's murder. Since then, the circumstances of everyone involved must have changed. Those who know more but, for whatever reasons, never came forward, must do so now to grant the Murray family some release.
