IRISH teenagers who completed their Leaving Cert were warned this weekend by drink awareness group Meas to stay safe while celebrating the end of their exams.

The Leaving and Junior Cert exams came to an end last week and thousands of students nationwide were expected to begin celebrations.

Meas is urging them to celebrate in moderation this weekend.

Drinkaware.ie also issued a warning in respect of those teenagers now setting off on celebratory sun holidays.

"In the excitement of being away on holiday with friends and celebrating the end of exams, it is easy to forget about the possible effects a cocktail of sun and alcohol can have on you," said chief executive Fionnuala Sheehan.
