An Irish comedian looks set for his own TV series courtesy of his day job as a pet photographer.
For the last two years, Brendan Burke has supplemented his earnings from stand-up comedy by photographing owners with their pets.
Fianna Fáil senator Ivor Callely, champion boxer Bernard Dunne and singer Sinead O'Connor are among those who have posed beside their animal friends.
However, the service, called Shoot My Dog, has become so successful, producers now want to turn it into a TV programme featuring Burke at work, intercut with clips of the comedian's own stand-up routine.
"What this job has taught me is how passionate people are about their pets but I'd never have thought doing this might lead to me getting my own TV show," said Burke.
The Dubliner (46) first came up with the idea of photographing pets after his own dog passed away. You can see his pet portraits at www.shootmydog.ie
