A Scottish man who bought a metal detector to kickstart a new hobby was astounded when on his first outing searching for treasure, he discovered a £1m haul of gold. David Booth found a stash of torcs made from pure gold 2,300 years' old. The 35-year-old, who works as a warden at a safari park, said: "I saw a glimpse of one of them, then uncovered the rest. They were in a wee group. Half me was saying: 'that does look important', but I was thinking I couldn't be that lucky on my first go."
