Aid worker Sharon Commins has said she will reunite with Hilda Kawuki next October, one year after the two women were released from captivity in Darfur.

Commins (25) told the Sunday Tribune that she was making plans to go on holidays with Kawuki, and that the two would probably head to Europe for their break.

The women met up last November, but have not seen each other since.

"We managed to meet up in Dublin at the end of November for a few days, and will hook up again in September or October in Europe to do a bit of travelling," said Commins.

The Goal employee is determined to stay out of the public spotlight six months after returning to her parents, Mark and Agatha, in Clontarf, Dublin.

Commins and Kawuki were kidnapped from a Goal base in Kutum, north Darfur, on 3 July, by eight heavily armed men. Commins was released after 106 days and returned to Dublin on 19 October.

She has said she will never return to Darfur.

Commins said she would not speak about her ordeal. She is concentrating on returning to normal life in Dublin.
