The government's satisfaction rating is in the low teens. Yet your political correspondents Coleman and McMorrow give over pages to finding fault with the opposition.
The old one-party state is still alive and well.

Unfortunately, A. Leavy, and much and all as it may irk the "FF is to blame for all our woes" brigade, it is refreshing to see some critical reporting of the opposition benches.
Since the current economic crisis began FG and Labour sniped, sni(g)gered, sneered and smirked from their elevated high horses. Quite how they managed to find themselves at such altitude this is beyond me, since the combined genius of FG and Labour have spent the vast majority of 25 years on the far side of the house.
This is hardly just damned bad luck, and some critical reporting of the opposition is long overdue. On far too many occasions of late their air-head ideas have been exalted by certain media commentators, and indeed certain opposition TDs have been afforded vast amounts of airtime to spout unfettered spiteful nonsense.
It's a double-edged sword Mr. Leavy, and a professional newspaper with actual high standards is obliged to be critical of all political parties in Dáil Éireann.
