Today I did the Leaving Certificate higher-level maths paper II. I found it challenging. However, I was able to do most of the questions. This year, a programme called "project maths" is being introduced throughout certain schools in Ireland. Project maths is a more practical form of maths which involves drawing graphs, circles, etc. However, the project maths-designated schools today did a completely different Paper II than us 'old-type' maths schools.

After looking at this project maths paper, in my opinion and in the majority of my peers' opinions, it has in no way a similar difficulty level. These students will be awarded the same grade as us, and we had to do much harder work. This is absurd!

Our country is built on equality and our school system aims to provide an equal chance of college places based on a points system which reflects the students' ability. An A1 on the higher-level project maths paper is in no way comparable to an A1 on the higher-level common maths paper. This is ridiculous!
