GARDAí are appealing for witnesses after an elderly pedestrian was knocked down and killed by a lorry.


The woman, who was in her eighties, was seriously injured when she was hit by the truck in the village of Clane, Co Kildare yesterday. She was rushed to hospital following the accident at 10.45am and was pronounced dead at Naas General Hospital not long after. The driver, a male in his thirties, was taken by ambulance to the same hospital and was said to be suffering from shock. Gardaí have asked for information at 045-868262. A forensic examination took place and the road has since reopened.
