I loved the story on the Trevor Sargent resigning affair by Mick McCaffrey, Security Correspondent, on your front page (News, 28 February). Mick McCaffrey told readers that detectives have discovered "the phone records of the reporter who broke the story".

He also revealed that the Garda Commissioner and the justice minister were "determined to identify the person who leaked the documents" and that the person concerned could be "detained for a breach of the official secrets act".

I wonder will the commissioner and the minister be equally as interested in who the "sources" are that are leaking this information to Mick McCaffrey. Will they be "detained" for a breach of "the official secrets act". Perhaps not. Perhaps the latter is a normal leak done merely for spin doctoring purposes?
