Gardaí are carrying out a technical examination at the scene of a fire in Cork city centre to establish its cause.
The blaze broke out at the old Munster Furniture Store on North Main Street at around 7pm on Friday evening and it took over two hours to bring it under control. It spread to several adjoining buildings at North Main Street and Grattan Street in Cork city centre.
The premises is currently operating as a discount clothing store. Residents and shoppers were evacuated as the fire was brought under control.
Extensive damage was caused to the building but there were no injuries.
