GardaÍ raided a house in Dublin yesterday and discovered two Chinese children, one of whom had disappeared from the care of the HSE, along with an illegal pornographic DVD-making factory.
One Chinese man was arrested on suspicion of human-trafficking when gardaí swooped on the apartment on Blackhall Street, Smithfield, Dublin 7 at 7.30am. His wife and two-week old baby were also at the apartment.
Two other Chinese men were also present and will be interviewed in the coming days to determine if they are victims of trafficking or if they were involved in trafficking the two Chinese boys for the purpose of sexual or labour exploitation.
One of the minors could be as young as 14 and gardaí believe the other could be 16. "They are back in the care of the HSE now. They do not speak any English. They'll be interviewed to try and determine if they were abused in any way," said a senior source.
One of the men due to be questioned had been in the country less than 24 hours. He was discovered in a toilet at Dublin Airport and sought asylum. However, he left his hostel within hours.
About 200 pirate pornographic and entertainment DVDs were also discovered at the apartment. They had been downloaded in the apartment and gardaí believe they were due to be sent to the UK on a flight from Belfast last night.
One of the Chinese minors disappeared from his HSE hostel in May. There is no record of the other child having entered the state.
This latest development is part of a larger garda probe into the disappearance of 34 unaccompanied Chinese minors from state care.
Last month, a wealthy Chinese restaurateur in the north-east was arrested in connection with the investigation.
A female Chinese minor, who disappeared from her hostel in Dublin, was discovered selling DVDs in London three weeks ago. Another missing female Chinese minor was found attempting to board a flight in Dublin bound for London two weeks ago.
Detectives in Dublin and Garda National Immigration bureau (GNIB) are working with Europol and Interpol as part of an international probe into the trafficking of Chinese children and adults.
This looks like the tip of the iceberg here. This is what happens when there is no coherent immigration policy and establishment politicians allow mass immigration in a politically correct atmosphere which stifles any debate on immigration. The pc attitudes are really those of a noisy minority, often those benefitting from mass migration and earning their living from actually encouraging mass immigration asylum claims e.g. Immigrants Council of Ireland et al.
