A man is in custody follow­ing a high-speed chase that saw a stolen car abandoned and the driver run into the sea. A number of garda cars were damaged after chasing the car through north Dublin.


The car was stolen in Ballymun yesterday morning and was spotted in Clontarf at 12.30pm. Gardaí chased it as far as Sutton, resulting in several squad cars being damaged.


The stolen car crashed in Sutton where the driver abandoned it and ran into the sea.
