Former TV3 presenter Lorraine Keane has ruled herself out as one of a rotating panel of presenters that will host The Afternoon Show on RTÉ.

The broadcaster was reported last week to be one of three presenters taking turns to join full-time presenter Sheana Keane on the programme.

However, the 36-year-old told the Sunday Tribune that following a meeting with her agent Noel Kelly last Wednesday, they had decided she was not interested in such a position.

"I have found a balance between working on my own projects and spending time with my children. Being a rotating presenter or substitute presenter doesn't fit in with my plans at the moment. I think The Afternoon Show is a great programme and very popular. In fact I co-presented its forerunner Live At 3 with Derek Davis which taught me a lot."

Six months after resigning from TV3 entertainment show Xposé, Keane says viewers shouldn't expect to see her back on TV screens until next year.

"The next programme I work on will be something I am proud of and passionate about. I was instrumental in getting Xposé off the ground for TV3 and my next project will also be something I will have had a hand in developing."

Keane says she is working with her husband, musician and producer Peter Devlin, who is musical director on the RTE's All Ireland Talent Show.

"I can't say what it involves yet but there won't be anything on screen until next year. It's themed around something I feel passionate about. I'm very excited about it said Keane."

The mother of two said she had no regrets leaving TV3 and said the last six months had given her an opportunity to spend more time with her daughters Emelia (6) and Romy (2).

"This is what I wanted - it was never my intention to have children and then never see them."
