The Israeli ambassador to Ireland said anti-Semitic comments recently made by comedian Tommy Tiernan were "outrageous" and Tiernan still needs to apologise for them.
Zion Evrony said: "Mr Tiernan's comments were outrageous, hurtful and ignorant .
"They have rightly been condemned by many Irish people from all walks of life. Unfortunately, he has not yet clearly apologised for them."
This comes after the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland expressed disappointment that Tiernan had not apologised for his remarks but chose instead to justify them.
The Sunday Tribune first reported how Tiernan, at the Electric Picnic festival, said about the Holocaust: "But these Jews, these f**king Jew c**ts come up to me. F**king Christ-killing bastards.
"F**king six million? I would have got 10 or 12 million out of that. No f**king problem! F**k them. Two at a time, they would have gone. Hold hands, get in there. Leave us your teeth and your glasses."
Tiernan later issued a statement saying: "The things that I said in front of a live audience were in an attempt to explain my belief that one of the duties of the comic performer is to be reckless and irresponsible and that the things they say should never be taken out of context.
This was dismissed by Evrony.
"When the topic is that of mass murder and genocide based on the propagation of racial hatred, the right of humorous comment cannot be absolute," he said.
Evrony added that having brought up the Holocaust, the state-sponsored persecution and murder of around six million Jews by the Nazi regime in Germany, in front of a live audience, Tiernan should make a full study of the subject.

20th September 2009 - "Six million? I would have got 10 or 12 million out of that. No f**kng problem! F**k them. Two at a time, they would have gone. Hold hands, get in there! Leave us your teeth and your glasses"
Tiernan was clearly impersonating someone, rather than expressing his own opinion. People really need to lighten up- it is not healthy to keep sacred cows that we can't criticise or use humour to explore. Such condemnation stifles creatvity- and knowing lot of Jews and Israeli i think they may have a cultural misunderstanding about the Irish sense of humour.
